Vlookup Problem #2 - Locking the Table Reference

Locking your table reference will prevent it from moving when you copy your Vlookup function to other cells. This is essential and it would be extremely rare to not need fix the table reference (known as the table array) of your Vlookup function. Fortunately it is easily done and this video will explain how. Identifying these 6 common Vlookup problems will put you on the way to becoming a Vlookup function master. To lock the table array, click amongst the cell reference within the formula and press the F4 key on the keyboard. Alternatively you could just type the dollar signs in. One before the column reference and one before the row. This is known as an absolute reference. A standard cell reference is known as a relative reference. There are other ways of fixing or locking table references. These include using defined names and the Format as Table feature.
